7 Ways to Detox and Cleanse your Body …

A detox diet is one that eliminates the toxins and waste products from your body so that it continues running ship shape and doing its job efficiently. Ordinarily, a healthy body has the ability to detoxify itself. All the organs of the body – the intestines, liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, lungs, blood and skin – have worked out a coordinated system to chuck out all the muck that we run into every single day. However, the keyword here is “healthy body”? How many of us can lay claim to recognizing the worth of our body and giving it due deference? Sadly enough, the numbers are dismally low. That’s why our overtaxed body needs external intervention. Choose from one of these 7 ways to detox and cleanse your body and get your body functions back on track.

1. Water Fasting

Water fasting is one of the most rigorous ways to detox and cleanse your body and very easy to take a dislike to since it involves drinking lots of…you guessed it right…WATER, not to mention the frequent trips one has to make to the ladies’ room to err…flush out the toxins.
The water detox diet should never be stretched beyond five days. Beginners, however, should start with only one day at a time, gradually building it when they are confident of handling it. One last thing – make sure you plan the water fasting on days of complete rest.

2. Juice Detox Diet

A juice fast is similar in principle to the water fast, except that instead of water (or in addition to it) you have to survive on juices. And I am not talking about the sugar loaded ones you get in the market. It’s best to buy fruits and vegetables – cabbage, spinach, carrot, pineapple, apple – and make your own fresh juice at home.

3. Diuretic Diet

Another way to detox and cleanse your body especially if you suffer from the problem of water retention, is the diuretic diet. It aids the body in getting rid of excess fluids. Foods that are an essential part of the diuretic diet are artichoke, asparagus, dandelion, celery seed, melon, juniper berries, watercress, and parsley.

4. Mono Fruit Diet

“Mono” means “one” and, as you may have figured out, you are allowed to eat only one type of fruit in this form of diet. This helps regulate your body’s pH balance and sugar levels and allow the cells of the body to clean themselves.

5. Raw Food Diet

This way to detox and cleanse your body is pretty self-explanatory. All you are allowed to eat as part of this diet is raw food. This gives you the vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients that will help the body survive and conduct its normal function without putting too much pressure on it. In addition raw foods are rich in digestive enzymes that boost your metabolism and immunity.

6. Master Cleanse Detox System

If you’ve been following celebrity news, you would have bumped into the Master Cleanse diet at some point of time. It’s been hailed by several Hollywood stars as a great weight loss solution. I am not sure how viable it is to drop pounds, but the Master Cleanse system is a great, if a rather strict, detox diet which requires you to drink nothing more than a concoction made from water, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. Not very delicious, but quite effective!

7. The Hallelujah Detox Diet

I save the best for the last. This detox diet allows you to include cooked food in the meal plan, but only up to 15% of the entire diet and only as the last meal of the day. Yet another demand of this diet is that traditional breakfast be skipped and replaced with barley grass and vegetable juice. The usual restrictions apply – no sugar, processed and refined foods, roasted nuts, meat, and soy products but you can have fresh fruit, muesli, oats, bean sprouts, raw seeds and nuts, flaxseed oil, olive oil, and fresh herbs.
When you choose one of these 7 ways to detox and cleanse your body, you need to remember something. Although the benefits of such diets are far reaching, they do not come about overnight. The initial reaction of your body might be that of resistance and shock, but if you stick with it long enough you are going to meet a newer, healthier, more vibrant you!

8 Foods that Detox the Body Naturally …

Detoxing is a physiological process that usually occurs naturally whereby the body gets rid of the toxins accumulated within it. Sometimes, however, the body is unable to throw out all the toxins on its own. That’s when detox diets are recommended, which give the body the break it needs from its overworked routine, allowing it to dump waste more effectively and absorb nutrients better. If you are planning to cleanse your body and restore the inner balance, you might want to stock up on these 8 foods that detox the body naturally.

1. Raw Vegetables

Carrots, onions, asparagus, broccoli, artichoke, kale, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and beet are some of your best allies in your attempt to detox your body naturally. Eaten raw, these foods, rich in naturally occurring glutathione and sulphur, aid the liver in the purging of harmful chemicals and toxins.

2. Fruits

The body is able to digest fruits really easily. For this reason, they are among the foods that detox  the body naturally. They provide the body with essential vitamins and minerals, not to mention fiber and anti-oxidants. In addition, being high in water content, they successfully help the body in flushing out dangerous toxins.

Vitamin C plays an extremely important role in cleansing and detoxification since it has the ability to convert toxins into digestible matter, allowing for its easier passage through the body. As we all know oranges, lemons, and limes are rich in vitamin C and they can jump-start the process ofdigestion by lending a helping hand in the enzymatic processes. For more benefit, begin your day with a glass of warm water with half a lemon squeezed into it.

Ever heard of chlorophyll – the same chemical that helps plants in the process of photosynthesis? Turns out that chlorophyll is just as beneficial to a human body as it is to plants since it fights against environmental toxins from pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, cleaning products, and smog. Stock up on barley, green algae, kale, wheatgrass, spirulina, spinach, chard, alfalfa, and arugula, which are known to be high in chlorophyll, making them important foods that detox the bodynaturally.

5. Green Tea

Chinese green tea is rich in catechins – an anti-oxidant that boosts liver function. Have several cups of green tea throughout the day and you will notice a difference in no time at all.

6. Omega-3 Oils

Food with Omega-3 oils are also considered important foods that detox the body naturally. When on a detox diet, use olive, hemp, avocado, or flax seed oil to cook your meals. These oils are a rich source of omega-3s which lubricate the walls of the intestine, causing the toxins to be absorbed more efficiently and eliminated by the body.

7. Garlic

This tiny little bulb is one of the most powerful foods that detox the body naturally. Garlic stimulates the liver into producing enzymes that aid the process of detoxification, thereby filtering the toxins in the digestive system. Add a few pods of garlic to any dish you are making and it will work quietly in the background to cleanse your body.

8. Nuts and Seeds

Generally during the detox period, you are asked to go easy on nut butters of all sorts. However, you can include nuts and seeds into your diet, taking care to pick the kinds that are easily digestible, such as hemp seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, flaxseed, sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, and Siberian cedar nuts.
We all have a really hectic life to lead but that is the worst excuse you can give for ignoring to look after your body. After all money, professional success, and personal happiness will stay with you only so long, whereas your body is faithful to you till the last days of your life. You owe it some tender loving care and the occasional detox diet to help it stay on track with its functioning. Sold on the idea yet? Good! When are you planning to start, then?
